Everything people ask about Free Screen Recorder Online.
Recording and encoding happen entirely in your browser, on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to Drefly's servers while you record. If you convert a recording to a different format, that conversion also happens in your browser, not on our servers.
Yes. Choose "Screen + camera" and your webcam appears as a circular bubble in the corner of the recording.
Recordings are saved as WebM in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, or MP4 on Safari. When you download or share, the format dropdown lets you convert to MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, AVI, FLV, or GIF. All of these convert right in your browser; AVI is flagged as slower since it takes longer to encode than the others.
Screen, camera, and microphone access all require your explicit, one-time permission per site - that's your browser protecting you, not something Drefly can skip.
No. Recording happens entirely on your device, so there's no length or file size limit - record for as long as you need.
Yes. Recording your screen, camera, or both is completely free, with no signup, no watermark, and no limit on recording length or file size - a genuine free alternative to Loom.
Camera recording works on mobile browsers, but screen recording needs a desktop browser like Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, since phone browsers don't support capturing the screen this way.
By default, every recording is saved locally in your browser on this device, with nothing sent to Drefly. Sign in to connect a cloud drive and keep a copy there too.
Yes. You can connect as many drives as you want, including several accounts on the same provider, such as multiple Google Drive accounts. Pick whichever one you want as your default, and switch the default anytime from your drive settings.
Yes. Open the recording, choose sync, and pick any of the drives you've authorized. You can select more than one drive to keep copies in several places.
If you turn on shareable link before you start recording, Drefly syncs the recording to your default drive in real time as you record, straight from your browser to your drive. Nothing passes through Drefly's servers during this sync. You can change your default drive anytime from drives settings.
Sign in, find the recording, and tap the share icon. Pick a format and tap Create link. Your browser downloads the recording from your drive, converts it if needed, and uploads the result back to your drive's share folder, all locally on your device. Drefly then gives you a drefly.pro link.
Anyone with the link can watch the recording, leave a comment, and drop an emoji reaction, but there's no download option on the shared page - it's play-only. The link isn't listed publicly, so treat it like any unlisted link and only send it to people you want to see it.
Yes. Turn on PIN protected in the share dialog before you create the link, and Drefly generates a numeric PIN alongside it. Anyone opening the link has to enter that PIN before the recording plays, so you can send the link and the PIN through separate channels for an extra layer of privacy. You can copy the PIN at any time, and regenerating the link also issues a new PIN.
Yes, on a drefly.pro share link viewers can drop an emoji reaction alongside their comment, no account needed on their end either. Reactions are part of the personal share page and aren't available yet on the embeddable company widget.
When someone opens a drefly.pro share link, your recording streams from your drive, through Drefly's server, and to their browser. Drefly pipelines that stream without ever writing the file to disk, so there's still no copy stored on our servers - it's a pass-through, not storage.
Sharing via your drive path sends people straight to the file in your own Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive, so the PIN toggle turns off and comments and reactions aren't available, since that page belongs to your drive provider, not Drefly. Use the drefly.pro link instead if you want PIN protection, comments, or reactions.
Downloads stream directly from your drive to your browser - Drefly's server is never in the middle. Pick any format from the dropdown to convert on the way down: MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, AVI, FLV, or GIF. Most convert quickly; AVI is flagged slower since it's a more time-consuming format to encode, but the whole conversion still runs in your browser.
