Why we built it
Most file tools online ask for a signup, hide basic features behind a paywall, or bury your files in ads and popups. Drefly exists so anyone can pick a tool, drop in a file, and get the result back in seconds, without any of that friction.
No signup, no payment, no limits
- No account or signup is required for any tool.
- No payment, card, or subscription is required. Every tool is free to use.
- We do not cap the size of the files you process. Very large files are only limited by your own device and connection speed, not by an artificial cap we set.
- We do not run tracking or advertising analytics on your activity. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
How it works
Most tools run your task on our servers for the time it takes to process your file, then return the result straight to your browser. A few tools - Crop Video, Clip Video, Reel Maker, and Record - work entirely in your browser instead, so the file never reaches our servers at all. Either way, we do not ask you to create an account, and we do not keep a permanent copy of the files you process. See our Privacy Policy for the full details on how files and data are handled.
Bring your own key tools
Some of the AI tools let you use your own API key from a provider like Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google. When you do, that key is kept in your browser and used only to make your own request. We never store your API key on our servers.
A recording widget for your own site
Drefly also gives developers a way to add screen recording to their own product. The Drefly widget is a small embeddable control that your visitors can use to record their screen and send that recording straight to you, which is often the fastest way to understand a bug report or a support request.
- Setup takes one script tag and a widget key from your developer dashboard. No SDK, build step, or backend code is required to get a working widget on your page.
- You register the domain or domains the widget is allowed to run on, including wildcard subdomains, and connect your own cloud storage bucket so every recording lands in storage you control.
- You can place the widget as a floating control or mount it inside your own toolbar, set the capture mode to screen only, screen with microphone, or screen with camera and microphone, and match its color to your brand.
- The widget only starts recording after a visitor clicks it and approves their browser's own screen sharing prompt, and it automatically blurs password and card fields while a recording is running.

Is Drefly really free?
Yes. Every tool on Drefly is free to use, with no premium tier, no watermark, and no signup required.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You never sign up for an account. To save a recording to your own cloud drive in the Record tool, you connect it directly with a passkey - no email or password involved.
Do you store my files?
No. Uploaded files are kept only for as long as your task takes to run, then automatically deleted. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
What file types does Drefly support?
PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents, common image formats like JPG, PNG, and WEBP, and video formats like MP4, WEBM, and MOV, plus AI powered summarizing, translating, and transcribing.
Is there a file size or usage limit?
Most tools have no file size limit and no cap on how many times you can use them. Individual tool pages note any per-request limits, such as page or file counts.
Does Drefly work on mobile?
Yes. Every tool runs in your mobile browser, with no app to install.
